Mandy BohmWorship & Arts Pastor
I’m so glad that you have taken the time to seek out a little bit more about the worship ministry at Teays Valley Church of God. We are enthusiastic about gathering together in worship, and we would love a chance to meet you in person. The growth in this area of ministry has been so exciting! Our worship band and praise team, which lead the services every week, is made up of youth and adults from our congregation that rotate singing and playing, and our 50+ voice choir, which sings twice a month, is for anyone ages 12 and up. We have also been developing an orchestra, and offer opportunities for anyone who has experience playing in high school band and beyond to utilize their gifts in our worship services. We embrace all fine arts and are purposeful in restoring our creative gifts back to God. On any given Sunday, along with instrumentalists and singers, you may also see dancing, chalk drawings or painting, sign language interpreting, spoken testimonies and inspiring stories, videos, and actors in skits using their gifts to glorify God. We have recently upgraded our technology, again, with state of the art sound, lighting, and media, which aid us in tuning out the distractions of the world so we can focus solely on our worship time together and our relationship with God, and will beautifully enhance our Christmas and spring choral productions. One of the best features of our worship services is the freedom and authenticity with which everyone expresses themselves. No two people are exactly alike, and our body of worshippers are comfortable with being themselves, whether that is expressive or reserved. Everyone is welcome!
One of my theme verses for the worship ministry is Psalms 33:3 “Sing unto the Lord a new song; play skillfully and shout for joy!”We all take that approach in the worship ministry and do our own personal best to bring a quality level of preparedness to the services, while having a blast! Each week we come expecting a special encounter with God, and ready to praise Him! I really hope you will come to a service soon and be filled-up and empowered by the presence of the Lord with us. – Pastor Mandy
