I hope you are taking advantage of all of Christ’s invitations found in Matthew 11:28-31. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
COME
When someone invites you to something, they are inviting you to “Draw nearer, to move toward, move with a purpose, to advance, to go forward, rise in rank.” The God of the Universe wants you to be near to Him!
TAKE
We don’t recieve a yoke when we come to Jesus. We take one. We volunteer for Christ to be our Master BECAUSE He alone knows how we can acheive our maximum potential and produce the greatest harvest for His kingdom. As I said Sunday, it’s easier to be a Christian than to be a slave to sin!
LEARN
Jesus has so much to teach us. In the story where Martha was busying herself with housework while Mary was sitting at Jesus’ feet listening to Him speak, we learned that we need to learn to listen. Quiet yourself this week and just sit at Jesus’ feet. Jesus told Martha she was “worried and upset about many things,” and that Mary had chosen the one thing that was most important. Ask God to help you focus on the priority of knowing and loving Him!
FIND
Find some rest this week. Ask God to give you spiritual, emotional and physical rest. They are the result of being yoked with Jesus and of learning more of Him.
On Sunday I asked you for your commitment to witness to three or four people with the promise that by the end of 2012 you would ask one of them if they would like to invite Jesus to be their Lord and Savior. IF YOU WEREN’T HERE SUNDAY, please fill out a card this Sunday and get it back to me.
Remember, we are collecting single bud vases in order to take a flower in a vase to the residents of a local nursing home during Valentine’s week.
I hope to see you on Wednesday night! 🙂 Dinner is served at 5:45 and services begin at 6:45.
Invite someone to church this week!
You are loved.
