Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Are you taking your stand for the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ this week?
1 Corinthians 15:1 “Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.”
Read I Corinthians 15:2-8 to revisit just what it is we are standing for!
On Sunday I outlined that we can take a stand by being a WALKING WITNESS for Christ wherever we go. Makayla Escue boldly testied how she is standing for Christ by removing some things from her life that she believes don’t please Him. What we say and do and what we don’t say and don’t do all say something to a watching world! As Christians, we exist to know Christ and to make Him known! (II Cor. 5:20) God intends to speak through your life. What does your life allow Him to say?
Second, we take a stand for Christ by being TRANSPORTERS OF TRUTH.
2 Thessalonians 2:15 “So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.”
What makes Christianity distinct is the teachings of the Bible. Christianity isn’t a man-made religion based on human ideas, but it is a God-ordained way of living based on God’s own Words given under inspiration of the Holy Spirit to people who wrote them down. Ideas and principles based on anything but the Word of God cease to be Christian. Therefore, if we are to live Christian, we must hold up the Word of God as truth and never compromise what it says if we are going to stand up for Christ.
Where many Christians have gone astray is the speaking of truth “in love.” (Ephesians 4:15) Listen to these 2 verses: 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 “Be on your guard; STAND FIRM in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything IN LOVE.” As you are standing firm in the faith, holding on to the truth of God’s Word, stand in love at the same time!
Finally, take a stand for Christ by STANDING IN THE GAP for those who aren’t Christians yet. (Ezekiel 22:30) Walk the halls of your schools and workplaces in an attitude of prayer. People aren’t just wrong. They are lost. Until they are found they won’t know they are wrong. Our job is to pray them towards salvation.
Join us on Wednesday at 6:45 as we worship and fellowship in God’s presence!
Standing for our Lord with you!
Pastor Melissa
