Matthew 6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

Yesterday I shared that seeking God means seeking His presence, His face. (II Chronicles 7:11-14)

Seeking involves the realization that you can obtain something or become something in the presence of God that you can’t obtain or become anywhere else! Listen to the words of the Apostle Paul in Philippians 3:10: “That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death. . .”

Paul wanted to “know” Christ. He wanted to be more than an acquaintance. By seeking to know Christ intimately we become like Him. His presence will bring about transformation in our lives.

Second, seeking God involves desiring to PLEASE God. Isaiah 55:6-9: Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Seeking to please God begins with PRAYER. Verse 55:6 says we are to call upon the Lord.

The next step in seeking to please God involves PENITENCE. Isaiah 55:7

Seeking to please God involves having our minds programmed to think about things differently. Is. 55:8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Too many people are trying to live the Christian life by only converting their hearts. A person’s mind needs converted as well. (Romans 12:2)

Seek the LORD while he may be found. (Isaiah 55:6) God wants to be face to face with you today. Carve out the time and pray for a heart that craves GOd’s presence.

“Now set your mind and heart to seek the Lord your God.” (1 Chronicles 22:19)

Join me this week in seeking God with all of our hearts! Join me this Wednesday at noon for a half hour of prayer or Wednesday evening for our worship and study time! Blessings for a great week!
