Dear Church,I am writing from the sands of Myrtle Beach where I am enjoying a week’s vacation with my family. We will be home in time to share in the “Red, White, and Kaboom” picnic on Teays Valley Acres this Saturday. I hope to see you all there! Arrive between six and six-thirty with your side dishes and drinks. Why not bring a friend? The fireworks will be spectacular!
My apologies to all who got ready and made it to church yesterday to find the church building had been affected by a power outage. Power has been restored. We will have our regular Wednesday services. We have come through another historic and volatile week in our nation and world. Terrorists continue to spew hate and take lives. Services were held for the victims of the SC church shootings. There has been much debate about the Confederate Flag, and the Supreme Court has now redefined marriage in our country. The TV media and social media have fanned the flames of division. This coming Sunday I will attempt to deal with some of the pressing issues, but on the issue of marriage, let me refer you to this video message I presented last August that is on our website. It can be found at this link: https://tvcog.org/sexuality-and-the-bible/ We are a Church of God, and the Church of God’s position on this issue is clear. Marriage was instituted by God therefore it is defined by God. It is a covenant between one man and one woman. While persons who attend our church may hold a different opinion, those in lay leadership and those on staff will continue to uphold what we believe is the biblical definition of marriage. That said, ALL are welcome at TVCOG. Those who agree with our position on marriage and those who don’t. Heterosexual or homosexual, all are welcome. All races, all socio-economic groups, all genders, all ages, ALL people are welcome, loved AND respected. I am praying God helps us all be part of the solution for the many challenges we are facing. Make an impact this week in truth and love. Pastor Melissa |
