Sunday’s sermon from Exodus 1 and 2 highlighted what it takes to be a hero or heroine in the Kingdom of God. The midwives who refused to follow Pharaoh’s orders to kill the baby boys right after they were born showed they were living for a higher purpose. They feared God and honored His Word, His will, and His ways.

Heroes live for a higher PURPOSE!

When Pharaoh’s plan to kill the baby boys after they were born didn’t work, he ordered all baby boys to be thrown into the Nile River. Moses’ mother did what it took to protect her baby son, Moses.

Heroes are willing to do what it takes to PROTECT their families.

Next to following God’s high and holy calling by obeying Him and living for Him, your second highest calling is your family. It’s your marriage. If you are a parent it is also the raising of your children. Protecting, preserving and keeping watch over our families is our highest earthly calling. The princess who found baby Moses floating on the Nile River took him in as if he was her own. She reached to care for, nurture, educate, and support Moses as if he was her own son.

Heroes risk to POSITIVELY IMPACT other people.

I had never really seen this progression in the Moses’ story before, but you have Midwives fearing God, a mother protecting her family, and then a stranger taking him in. It makes for a perfect model regarding what the Christian life is about. The Christian life is about serving God, instructing our families, and then reaching out to others.

Would you like to be a hero/heroine? Stay true to your high and holy calling.

Would you like to be a hero/heroine? Be diligent about protecting your family.

Would you like to be a hero/heroine? Reach to positively impact others to the point where they feel part of your own family.

Make it a week of IMPACT!
