Dear Church,
What an amazing Sunday! 423 in attendance! Hundreds of recommitments to Christ. Record offering of over $19,000.00 with $6,000.00 being given for the building fund (which officially won’t even start until 2013!). A Spirit-filled business meeting with everyone being ratified and the budget being overwhelmingly passed!
On Sunday I preached from Hebrews 2:1 “We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.”
Make a decision to NOT be a drifter!
Watch out for a DRIFTING FOCUS. Exalting Christ in every aspect of our lives must be our aim. Remember, Jesus isn’t trying to recruit Christians who merely believe, but disciples who follow wholeheartedly.
Watch out for a DRIFTING PASSION. In Revelation 2:4 God cited the church at Ephesus for losing its “first love.” The passion was gone. Good works weren’t the result of a passionate love for God and His people. They were merely going through the motions. How is our “WANT TO” when it comes to Bible study and prayer?
Watch out for a DRIFTING DISCIPLINE. Don’t let yourself get out of the habit of going to church. Maintain high standards with your speech and conduct. Be particular about what your eyes see and where you go. Christians should NOT blend in with the world (I Peter 2:9)
Fan the flame of your passion for Christ! Anchor your daily life to Him. Don’t be a drifter! 🙂
Pastor Melissa
