What a great Sunday we had together! Thanks to all who invited and brought guests!
Let me remind you we have aVERY SPECIAL weekend ahead. Friday night at 7 and Saturday night at 6. Several Southern Gospel groups will be in concert from TN, KY and OH. Please help us publicize this event on your FB and Twitter pages and bring your friends!
On Sunday I spoke about”Getting Back to the Basics.” I talked about how God was the GUIDE for the Israelites as well as their GUARD.
See Exodus 13:17-18 and 21-22
We need to let God guide because He has plans for us. He knows what we need to know.
“I know, O LORD, that a man’s life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps.” ( <http://biblia.com/bible/esv/Jeremiah%2010.23> Jeremiah 10:23) It is exceedingly clear that we aren’t to direct our own lives. It’s God’s job. Stop trying to do it yourself. Think about where you currently find yourself. Can you honestly say God has led you where you are, or have you been leading yourself or been following something or someone else?
God can keep you moving forward in both good times and bad times. He led the Israelites by day as well as by night. There is no way a person will make it successfully through the dark times in life without Jesus, without God leading the way.
In addition to letting God guide, we need to let God guard our lives. (See Exodus 14:19-25) When Phraoh’s army came after the Israelites, He withdrew His presence from in front of them and went behind them. He put a barrier between Israel and their enemy. Let God have your back!
Quit looking over your shoulder. Live in peace and safety! Psalm 139:5 says, “You hem me in behind and before.” “But you will not leave in haste or go in flight; for the LORD will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard” (Is. 52:12). God has you covered!
Isn’t it time to get back to the basics? Back to letting God be our Leader and Protector? Back to letting God be in the front of our lives and walking securely knowing that He also has our backs? Do you need to trade places with Him this morning? Let’s get back to letting God be God every day in each of our lives.
